Privacy Policy

1. The short version

Pegboard stores your home inventory so you and your household can find things. We never sell your data, never show ads, and never use your photos to advertise anything. You can export everything or delete your account at any time.

2. What we store

Your account: your email address, and your name if you choose to add one or share it through Sign in with Apple or Google.

Your inventory: storage locations, items, photos, notes, values, receipts, house maps, kitchen and grocery lists, and the settings you choose.

Your household: who is in it, their access level, and invite codes.

Messages you send us through Help & Info, such as questions and feedback.

Basic technical records needed to keep the service secure and working, such as sign-in times and error reports.

3. What we don't collect

We don't use advertising or tracking tools, and we don't follow you across other apps or websites.

We don't ask for your location. We don't read your contacts.

The camera is used only when you choose to take a photo or scan a barcode.

4. Who can see your inventory

Only the people in your household, based on the access the household manager gives them. Locations marked private stay private.

We don't routinely look at your photos or items. We only look when you ask us for help, when content is reported, when the law requires it, or when needed to keep the service secure.

5. Services that help run Pegboard

Hosting and database: your data is stored with our cloud hosting provider.

AI features: when you tap to scan a photo, read a receipt, or ask for recipe ideas or AI search, that photo or text is sent to an AI service to get the answer. This only happens when you ask. It isn't used to advertise to you.

Payments: website purchases are handled by Stripe, and iPhone purchases by Apple. We never see or store your card number.

Sign-in: if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, they confirm who you are. We only receive your email (or Apple's private relay email) and your name if you share it.

Optional recall notifications: when you enable Class I alerts, we store this device’s notification token, your choice and preferred language. Firebase, Apple and Google deliver a generic alert without your food names, inventory or health details. Turning alerts off or signing out removes this device’s registration. No marketing notifications are sent.

Food recalls: we download the public FDA and USDA recall lists. Nothing about you is sent to them.

Barcode lookups: when you scan a barcode, only the barcode number is sent to look up the product. Food details come from Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), shared under the Open Database License; other products come from UPCitemdb (upcitemdb.com).

6. Keeping your data

We keep your data while your account is open. You can export a full backup, photos included, at any time from Settings & Household.

To delete your account, go to Settings & Household and tap “Delete my account” at the bottom. Your login and personal settings are erased. If you're the only person in your household, your whole inventory is erased too. If others share your household, the household's shared bins and items stay with the household manager.

7. Children

Pegboard is for people 13 and older. Anyone under 18 should use it with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

8. Security

Your data is sent over encrypted connections, and household data is walled off so other households can't see it. No system is perfect, so please keep your own backup of anything important.

9. Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update the date below. For privacy questions or requests, email support@pegboardinventory.com or use “Drop Charlie a line” in Help & Info.
